The controls for the
SolRx 500 Series Hand/Foot & Spot device
are simple and straightforward, as confirmed by an
independent medical study
which stated:
"Twenty-three patients (92%) felt that the ease of operation of the home unit was high,
and only two patients said that it was average."

A
digital countdown timer
provides dosage control to the second, and has a maximum time setting of 20:00 minutes:seconds.
A particularly useful feature of this timer is that
it always remembers the last time setting
,
even if power is removed from the device for a long period of time.
This means that you will always have your last treatment time setting for reference.
The time is set by simply pressing the up or down arrow keys,
and the lights are turned on/off by pressing the START/STOP button.
The lights turn off automatically when the timer counts down to 00:00.
The timer's red display is easily seen through the patient goggles supplied.
The timer does NOT require prescription refills from your physician.
The timer's output relay carries a UL-508 [NEMA-410] ten Amp (10Amp) "Ballast" rating
and has been tested by Solarc in a 550CR (1.8 Amps) and a 1790 (8 Amps) for over 30,000 on-off cycles -
that's 2 treatments per day for 41 years.
The timer is top quality, UL/ULc certified, and made in the USA.

A
keyed switchlock
is the main power disconnect for the device.
By removing and hiding the key,
unauthorized use can be prevented.
This is an important feature,
especially if kids are around,
because mistaking this medical UVB device for a UVA tanning machine can have serious consequences.

The labels are made from Lexan® and will not fade.

|

The device uses a standard 3-prong grounded wall outlet available in most homes in North America.
(120 Volts AC, 60 Hertz, single phase, NEMA 5-15P plug)

There are no special electrical requirements.

|

For ease of transport, the power supply cord is detachable from the device.
The cord is about 10 feet long, minimizing the chances that you need an extension cord.

|

To access the electrical components, the guard is swung open and the bulbs and reflector are removed.
Commercially available electronic ballasts are used to minimize weight.
All components are serviceable with common tools.
Every device is evaluated by a 3rd party electrical inspection agency accredited by the Standards Council of Canada.

|

For maximum durability, the frame is made from 20 gauge steel (about as thick as a dime)
and then powder painted white to create a beautiful, long lasting finish.
There are a minimum of plastic parts to age, crack and break.

|

The device is mated to the Yoke using a black hand-knob on each side of the device.
To rotate the unit, the knobs are loosened slightly and then re-tightened.
Special friction washers (in brown) provide smooth movement and positive clamping.

|

The device is hand assembled by Solarc using plated machine screws with nylon insert locknuts wherever possible.
These locknuts ensure that the joints stay tight and the unit stays rigid.
The device is shipped fully assembled.
