It is very satisfying to know that there are options to deal with the eczema other than creams. K.E. I just came back from one month in Mexico and the sun over there wasn't enough to keep my skin clear of psoriasis. a couple of spots reappeared on my legs and ankles so I restarted the treatment when I came back starting at 2 min. Now I am at 8 minutes and the spots are thinning out day by day (I returned 2 weeks ago.) I am very satisfied. This treatment is helping me live a more normal life now, not only centered on my psoriasis. H.R. I use the system for psoriasis and have improved. My condition is as good as it as been in my 50 years of treatment. I have been under treatment with simliar system in a hospital setting. The Hospital is overloaded with patients and you could not get the system to adjust, fine tune to your needs. Having this system in your home is the way to go.In my case I have found that more treatments of a shorter duration works best. My schedule is 4 minutes each side, every second day, facing the light day 1, facing away day 2 I do the treatment after a bath and apply light application of Vasaline to affected areas, I cover my head during treatment. In the summer months my treatment schedule is cut to once a week.It is my opinion that millions of dollars are being spent in hospitals for this type of treatment, this should be done at home. I.T. T.U. T.L. is having extremely good results with the machine. She tries to get 3 treatments in per week. We are treating her arms for psoraisis which was really bad before we purchased the machine. I can say that the condition has improved at least 80%. We treat at approx. 50-55 seconds each treatment. We are also treating the back of her neck / just to shoulder area for vitiligo. I can't say that there has been an improvement, but I remember you telling me that it would take much longer to see results. She is never burned in this area. It is an exceptional product. I really appreciate you taking the time to ask how T.L. is doing. V.L. My psoriasis has cleared completely for the first time in 20 years, with the treatment effects becoming readily apparent within the first three weeks of treatment. My wife was truly amazed at the results. The unit arrived with a broken bulb. One phone call and another bulb was on it's way. The design of the device, and intructions for the device, made set up and treatments painless. The results from using the Solarc UVB narrowband phototherapy unit have exceeded both my and my physician's greatest expectations. My body was up to 30% covered in psoriasis for over 30 years and, although I learned to live with the physical aspects of my disease, the insecurity and psychological effects associated with chronic psoriasis were always with me. It gives me exactly what I expect and need in the convenience of my own home - I can get treatment when I want without time, effort and energy spent going to the one clinic downtown which offers the narrow band UV treatment (the line is long, the parking is a problem, the time away from work and personal time, etc). T.Q. My skin feels great! No more leasions or redness. I do not bleed on my clothing or the bed sheets. I am not sore anymore, nor do I itch. No problems with the Device at all. The user manual was easy to understand. I am very pleased with the Solarc System I purchased. It has made my skin so much better. I will even be wearing shorts this coming summer, for the first time in many years. I can kneel once again as my knees have completely been cleared of psoriasis. Only patches of "darker" skin remains where psoriasis used to be. In time these will fade and look like my normal skin. This fadeing has already happened on other parts of my skin. To not hurt, itch, bleed, or have skin flaking everywhere...........I Love it!!! I have also recommended the Solarc System to my son who is covered in psoriasis. Thanks for having this available to the public so that we may help ourselves heal! R.T. J's psoriasis started developing in his 20s and 30s, and was pretty full blown by his 40s. He stopped wearing shorts then, and he hasn't worn even short sleeves for about 10 years. The summers here aren't too long, but they get hot, and we do end up with several weeks with 100+ temperatures every summer. Because of the appearance of his skin, he quit going to the beach with me and the kids, and water skiing was out of the question. Even in our own pool at home he made sure no one else was swimming before he got in. His hands were getting pretty bad there towards the end, and he dreaded going to stores and handing over money because he was afraid cashiers would freak out over his hands. He had been getting some kind of shot from a doctor that would relieve the itching for 3 or 4 weeks, but he could only get the shot every 3 months; so the relief was temporary and short-lived; and it did little to erase the sores and scars. Lotions and pills were next to useless and we gave up trying them. In desperation he finally visited a specialist, who told him he needed light treatments; but since we didn't have insurance, we wouldn't be able to afford them. He actually told J to GET USED TO IT. That made me mad, and I figured if a specialist could buy light treatment systems, maybe I could, too. I got on-line and did some research, and ended up at the Solarc site. It was affordable, and I was paying cash. J installed the Solarc Christmas morning last year, and took his first light treatment immediately. In a nutshell, I am thrilled with my 530UVB-NB light machine! I've been using it for vitiligo. I bought the machine after the vitiligo had invaded my face. Hydrocortisone cream caused my face to re-pigment, but after a time, it completely lost its effectiveness. My face began to re-pigment after only a couple months. I was alarmed that much of the new pigment was much darker than my normal skin tone, which made it even harder to cover with make-up. But after awhile, thankfully, the pigment lightened up to match my skin tone. I've had no problems with the device or the manual. I think the device is brilliantly designed. So easy to use! Kudos to you for your design. I think your device and your service is excellent. My overall satisfaction level is very very high. I purchased the device to use on my face. I was initially only going to use it on my face, as I'd given up on the other areas. But you encouraged me on the phone to treat all areas, and to not give up, even on my feet. I have been waiting for this for years - and finally its here. In about one month of diligent use, the device cleared up my psoriasis - about a dozen legions on legs and elbows. For those who have suffered from this disease since they were young - like i have - this device is worth every cent. Self-treating in the comfort of your own home, or elsewhere using this portable device is therapeutic let alone effective. Those who are familiar with the daily rituals of topical application can easily shift to a new daily routine of UVB application, only now the "ritual" is actually effective (ie. this is not "dead" time). Last year in January and February I had to wear plastic gloves all the time but this year I am almost totally clear. I am using your Solarc 6 bulb, wall mounted, UVB-NB phototherapy unit three times a week for 1 minute 30 seconds (front and back, 3 minutes total) with excellent results. My condition has improved dramatically. I estimate that improvement at about 80-90%. Medicare covers only a small hand-held unit, however, I wrote a letter to Medicare and received a $967 rebate. I am seeing a dermatologist once every two months for prescription compound salve for psoriasis. I highly recommend your unit and your very competitive price. J.A. My son has battled psoriasis since age 12. He is now 53 years old so he has a long history of this problem. He has been diagnosed as having a particularly stubborn and severe case of psoriasis. Sometime early this year we talked about the problems he was having and he sounded to me to be at his wits end with trying to live with the symptoms. He is now completely free of all lesions, itch, rash etc. Just a very attractive tan on his whole body. His life is totally changed and he is psoriasis free for the first time since he was 12. He does not need the Dovonex and has suspended the solar treatment. He will have to use them only if the condition returns. We have the option for treatment now. There have been no burns or adverse affects so far due to him following directions very closely. We did not apply to any insurance company for payment. The results have been so outstanding that we would recommend the treatment to any one and you may use our endorsement any time. Thanks for changing our lives. The therapy has made a complete turn around in his life. - It would be important for you to know that he has been using the Dovonex cream for quite a few years - This did not keep the psoriasis from spreading and getting more severe. This is P.L. from BC and just had to email you to let you know I love my little system – new areas that were coming up are all gone and now I am working on some older ones – they will take time but I can say the degree to which they are reduced is very good. How come you didn’t phone me years ago and tell me about your Solarc System? (only kidding) Any new inventions you come up with I want to know… P.L. MY HISTORY: I have been battling Guttate Psoriasis for more than 25 years, with little or no success. I remember back in the early years the tortuous regime of crude coal tar treatments; as well as the baths, the creams, and the pills with the nasty side effects. Of course; the social stigma, which was the worst part of having psoriasis, prevented me from going to parties, swimming pools, beaches, the gym, and even prevented me from dating. It affected my every day life, in every way possible. Eventually the feelings of isolation, loneliness, and depression became overwhelming and this added stress only worsened the condition. My Dermatologist recommended light therapy at the local hospital. I began UVB Broadband treatments and ultimately went on to UVB Narrowband treatments which provided optimal results. The hospital treatments lasted approximately 4 months; and involved visits to the Photoderm Clinic 3-4 days per week. Even after completing hospital treatments, my lower legs never completely cleared. My entire body would, within weeks of completing treatment, flare and the lesions would once again cover my scalp, face, arms and hands, back, trunk, buttocks, and of course the lower legs and feet. It was considered a 'severe' case. My insurance carrier (SunLife) through my employer declined my repeated attempts to have the light machine covered. I decided to go ahead and purchase the machine on my own and it was delivered this past Christmas Eve by courier. INITIAL CONTACT WITH SOLARC: When I first called Solarc, I immediately felt as though I had known Steve all my life. He is dedicated and loyal to his customers, and this excellence in customer service is rarely found anywhere anymore! I have nothing but absolute respect and admiration for Steve, and Solarc! FOUR EASY STEPS TO SUCCESS: Step 1 - Unpack the light machine from it's shipping box. Step 2 - Secure the light machine to the wall using the screws and drywall anchors included. Step 3 - Read, THOROUGHLY and COMPLETELY, the instruction book prior to using the machine. Step 4 - Start treatment the same day! RESULTS OF IN-HOME THERAPY: Here is the MIRACLE of the light machine ... beating all the odds, I completed what I call the 'Clearing Phase' of treatment ... IN SIX WEEKS!!! In the morning I would wake and get out of bed, take my light treatment, shower and dress, and head off to work. It's just that easy! What an incredible difference to the typical 4 months of hospital visits ... especially during the long cold Winter months!!! This was followed by an additional 6 weeks of what I call the 'Maintenance Phase'. At the end of the 6 week Clearing Phase my skin was completely free of psoriatic lesions, apart from a few very small, hardly noticeable, spots on my lower legs which subsequently cleared during the Maintenance Phase of treatment. I followed all the guidelines in the instruction book; however, I took extra precautions so as not to irritate my skin and compromise my progress and success. I stood slightly further away from the lights than recommended, and gradually ramped up (increased the exposure time per treatment) by slightly less than the book indicated. My skin is fair, and sensitive, and although one feels a natural desire to clear as fast as possible, you only do more harm by attempting to speed up the treatments. MY BEST ADVICE: Read thoroughly, and follow, the instruction book that comes with your new light machine; and, adjust the recommended times of exposure indicated in the book as neccessary according to your own skin type, progress, and individual reaction to the lights (remember that each one of us is very different and unique) and always feel free to contact Steve during your treatment for advice, guidance, and support. MY TREATMENT SCHEDULE: I ramped up to 4 minutes, each side, 4 times per week (every other day). At the end of 6 weeks I noted, with child-like delight and wonder, that my skin was clear and so I began the Maintenance Phase. During the Mantenance Phase I decreased the treatments to 3 times per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) for two weeks, 2 times per week for 2 weeks, and 1 per week for two weeks then stopped completely. I remain, to this day, 100% clear ... for the very first time in my life!! THE ONLY DOWNSIDE: The additional costs associated with the purchase of new t-shirts, shorts, and sandals. :) J.T. Steve, just a quick note to say that I'm very pleased with the unit. The quality is outstanding and with only a few short treatments I already have begun to see the positive effects. I'm very impressed. S.N. Condition has improved markedly. Improvement was almost immediate and took about 2 months for condition to clear by 90%. I now only do a maintenance dose once a week. I cannot believe I took so long to get my own machine. I wasted time with clinics and hospitals for three years before that. I should not have listened to the nurses who advised against self-treatment. As long as you are responsible and careful home machines are a total plus. An absolute boon. No more waiting rooms. I put off buying also because of the expense, but your machine was the best deal I could find, less than half of what the agent for the German competition wanted here in South Africa. He was so impressed with the results, that he does not require me to visit him again until 1 year from now! As I have been seeing him regularly for 18 years, usually with visits in 2 to 6 month intervals, this is quite a welcomed change. I consider the purchase of the unit as an investment in my health over the long term. Note: I have been on almost every treatment for psoriasis, from tar based ointments, methotrexate, broadband UV, anthralin, and Amevive, to name just a few. This is by far the most effective, most convenient and least problematic of all of the treatments. I have been most impressed in my dealings with Solarc. From my initial order through to receiving the product and device setup, I have found the support to be excellent. This was especially true when the unit arrived with a damaged socket, and several replacements were shipped to me, with apologies, in short order. With detailed instructions included, I performed the repair myself, and within a half hour, the unit was installed in it's final location, ready for use. The unit itself is easy to operate, especially the time set. I am obviously very pleased with the whole experience from purchasing the light unit to the results that I have derived from it. I would recommend this treatment to anyone suffering from psoriasis as I do, who has tried everything else, and are a candidate for phototherapy. It has changed my life and outlook tremendously. I no longer feel as if the disease controls my life. This has given me confidence and allowed me to focus my attention on others, rather than myself. This is significant for me since I was first diagnosed with psoriasis when I had just turned sixteen (a really lousy time socially to have a skin disease whose only method of treatment at the time was a tar-based preparation that discolored the skin and smelled horribly). I am now 42, and for the first time since I was diagnosed, I feel as if I have embarked on a new phase of life, where the disease that has plagued me for so long, is finally under control for the long term, without poisoning my organs with toxins. I am continuing to do daily exposures and have started cutting back on the time to try to figure out what a maintenance exposure time, should be. Here is a small recap of my vitiligo voyage: I am very thankful and grateful that I could be prescribed this derma light since it took 4 months to see a dermatologist in order to be referred to the Ottawa Civic Hospital Derma Clinic to then be put on a 6 month waiting list for Vitiligo treatment. However after patiently waiting, two years later, I find out by diligently calling to be told that there are too many patients to treat and the hospital cannot accommodate everyone and therefore will no longer take any patients. I was very frustrated to see great results in other people with vitiligo whom luckily were treated sooner and to know that there was effective vitiligo treatment available in Canada. My Family Physician was amazed to see pigment results already. I will be seeing a dermatologist at regular 6 month intervals to monitor me. I will ask the specialist how to maintain my pigment once and "IF" I return to one pigment color. I'm unsure once the results are final, how often i will then have to treat myself for maintenance purposes. I'm assuming its less than the initial treatment. I purchased my 1760UVB-NB Phototherapy System 4 months ago because my psoriasis no longer responded to the creams and ointments prescribed by my dermatologist. I am extremely pleased with the equipment. I have not achieved full clearing but I am having very good results. I never had UVB phototherapy at a clinic or hospital before but I received very good advice from the prescribing dermatologist and your very well written User's Manual gave me the additional information I needed to start my treatments safely. At the start of my UVB treatments I had psoriasis lesions on my knees, the front of my lower legs, my left calf, top of my left foot, the front of my right thigh, the side of my left thigh, my lower back, both elbows, left forearm, top of my right hand, etc. After 40 treatments most lesions were completely gone but the spots on my knees and lower legs only improved very slightly. I then realized that when I stood with my stomach 10 inches away from the bulbs my knees and lower legs stood 15 inches away and I think that's too far out. So now I block the light from the upper half of the machine and I treat the front of my legs only at a distance of 10 inches. After a total of 55 treatments (40 frontside and backside + 15 just the front of my legs), the spots on my knees and lower legs are flattened and fading away slowly. With any luck I should be in maintenance phase soon. My insurance did not reimburse me but I really don't mind paying for it myself considering the huge positive impact it brings to my quality of life. To me, it's well worth every penny. The equipment was delivered at my door in perfect condition, it is top quality, it functions flawlessly and is safe to use. I am truly impressed with your prompt service and professionalism. Until I bought the system my entire body was a real mess. I had been fighting moderate psoriasis for well over 10 years. Topical medications only worked for a few years, and became totally ineffective. I had absolutely no desire to take an hour out of my work day, 3 days a week, to go into a physician’s office for phototherapy treatments. I managed to get a dermatologist to write a prescription for a UVB-NB unit. After hearing of nightmares that some people had fighting with their insurance companies regarding DME (durable medical equiptment) reimbursements, I decided to save my money and simply purchase a phototherapy unit. After much searching, and comparing what is available, I found that your systems provide the best value for the money. The day after ordering the unit I received notification that it was on its way. Three days later I received a phone call from the shipper indicating that the unit had arrived but had been severely damaged and that all of the bulbs had been broken. Per Solarc system’s instructions I accepted the unit anyway and took it home. Only ½ of the bulbs had been broken and one side of the reflectors had been severely scratched. Your company was totally awesome in getting me the parts that needed to be replaced (free of charge) and walking me through how to replace the broken parts and troubleshoot for any other possible problems that may have occurred. I had the replacement parts installed and was beginning my treatments 3 days later. The machine performs flawlessly. After about 4 months of using the unit 3 times a week my back, arms, and buttocks have completely cleared with the exception of a few flakes on occasions when my stress flares up. Dear Steve, Unbelievable!!!!! Some one should make it a law!!! If anyone out there is suffering from mild to severe psoriasis, they have to try Solarc UVB narrow band home therapy light panels. I got the ( 8 ) lamp unit, and have NEVER been so satisfied with a treatment for my severe psoriasis. I live near Pittsburgh, and during the winter, my psoriasis gets so bad that my skin actually breaks open and bleeds. I'm using phototherapy about ( 3 ) times a week, ( 18 ) minutes per session ( 9 ) minutes per side, and I am all but completely clear. My wife, some friends , and I went to Key West in January, and I was able to go to the beech without feeling embarassed or ashamed. As far as costs, you cannot put a value on the relief you can achieve with Phototherapy. My insurance company picked up all but $400.00 of the cost of the unit that I bought, and could have argued for more, but I would have bought the unit even if I have to pay for it myself. I figure it would have saved me the cost of the unit, just in saving from buying oils, prescription co-pays, and trips to my Dematoligist.
