SolRx devices are used mostly for the treatment of psoriasis, so most of these comments are related to psoriasis. Where other skin diseases have been treated (such as vitiligo, eczema or vitamin D3), indication is given.

I am using my Solarc System to treat psoriasis. I have had psoriasis for approximately 18 years and have found UV light treatment to be the most efficient. I am overjoyed with the convenience of owning my own light and have had consistent clearing of the scales except for a few stubborn areas. This is the first time in years that I was able to wear a sleeveless dress to a formal Christmas party (something that most women take for granted). Presently I use the machine three to four days in a row followed by one day off. I started treatment in late August and currently am up to 2 minutes, 30 seconds per front and back. I am finding my stubborn patches are along my sides so I rotate accordingly during the 2:30. I find this amount of time is working for now. I also keep my face covered during treatment. I guess I am in maintenance mode. Overall, this machine has greatly improved the quality of my day to day life. I am no longer looking over my shoulder for flakes of skin. I feel more confident wearing short sleeve shirts, etc. I feel like I have control over my psoriasis without the dreaded relapse of other treatments like topical ointments. The winter climate in Winnipeg is also tough on my skin especially when there is a major cold snap. Because I have been able to keep my psoriasis in check I notice less discomfort related to cold dry weather. Thank you for developing this product. I wish I had found out about it sooner. It is worth every cent.

I think I purchased my unit from you around 1993. It's a 6-ft/6-bulb UVB unit. Amazingly, not one bulb has burnt out. I use it mostly during the winter, whenever I get a bad flare-up. I start at around 30 sec and work my way up to about 3 minutes. The highest I think I've got it up to was 5 minutes per side, but that was a long time ago. I use it around 1 month at a time. That usually helps although never truly clears up my skin. I don't want to over-do it because I'm concerned about long-term side effects like skin cancer. Thus, I only use it when I really need it. I'm very satisfied with the UVB unit. Thanks

I've been using the phototherapy for a few months now and have been pleased with the results. Initially there was about 90% clearing on my elbows and ankles which were my worst areas. This happened after about 15 to 20 treatments of 2:30 minute sessions five times a week. I found now that my ankles and elbows have flared up again. I'm doing 3 minute treatments on alternate days which seem to keep it at bay but it is not clearing up like on the first go around. My skin has a good tan so there is no reddening with the treatment. All in all this is still the clearest my skin has been in ages. All other mild spots have dissapeared. Of all the products i've tried over 40 years this is the best i've ever looked and my only regret is that i did not learn of your product earlier which would have changed the way I lived my younger years dramatically. I purchased my Solarc system in December of 2004 and it only took 3 months to totally clear my psoriasis. Since then I have only been using it for maintenance and have stayed 99% clear of any major outbreaks. When I see a spot I simply treat it a couple of times and it goes away. The best thing about using this product is that I can do it in the privacy of my home, on my schedule, no more creams, or doctor's except for the checkups to make sure that I am not over exposing. I strongly feel this product was well worth the money and I did not try to recoup the cost through my insurance. I would recommend this to anyone who has suffered with psoriasis. My machine has worked without any problems and any burns that I may have gotten where simply because of too much exposure to a new area (white skin) but only minor burning. I love this product and it will always be my new best friend. It is finally nice to be able to wear shorts and tanks tops again especially in the hot summer months. I am happy to report that the 'system' is working just fine. It took several weeks before my skin cleared up. I diligently took the treatment every second day as suggested, working up to 5 minutes each side. I stopped at 5 minutes because I am an impatient person and thought that long enough. Luckily I am not severely afflicted with Psoriasis, mostly my legs are affected with the odd spot here and there on my trunk or arms. Once my skin was clear, I went on the maintenance program, and I was away on vacation for several weeks. But of course it does not take long, and a bit of stress, for lesions to reappear. So now I am getting back into a regular routine again. There have not been any problems with the equipment and the manual is very explicit. We were very impressed with the quality of the equipment and my husband had no problem installing same. I have not had any skin burns, in the beginning a bit reddish, but no adverse effects as far as I am concerned. The product is very solid and well constructed, the service was prompt and excellent.

You wouldn’t believe the remarkable change in my feet and hands. The treatments took about 3-4 weeks before I was able to see a difference, but now I can go barefoot (even outside) and I can wear sandals again. I can also shake people’s hands and receive change from clerks without feeling embarrassed about how my hands looked. I haven’t had any problems with the equipment at all. As a matter of fact, it sits under my computer desk and when I’m working on my computer, I do my treatment and I’m done. No skin burns or adverse effect, only tan feet and hands! It’s a wonderful product and the service that you gave us Steve, was great. We were very successful with our insurance claim. They paid 80% of the charge and we received our check within 7-10 business days after paying Solarc. Our insurance company is Aetna. It is an unbelievable product and I would recommend it to anyone who was having the problems that I was having.

Started using the UVNB 550 April 2006. [550UVB-NB] Oh yes there is marked improvement!!! I have had a couple small area burns where the rays were overlapping, (my fault) and I tried to go too fast there at one point, but now I have things under control. I had been using tanning booths for a couple months before I started the light so I started at one minute. I quickly learned I could up this quite a bit to start with. I think I then went to two minutes with no pink so I raised it maybe 20 or 30 secs and then I started getting pink so I backed off 10 secs and gradually went up 10 secs every other day till I think I'm at a maintenance dose now at 4:30. I do treatments usually 2 or 3 days apart. There are a few of the "stubborn" plaques maybe two, that are still there from the beginning but much improved. Besides that, all original ones are gone and unfortunately I am generating new plaques all the time but in small numbers and so are easily taken care of with the light. I must say I'm way ahead of where I started. I am impressed with the construction of the 500 series SolRx. It is durable and has very little plastic!!!!!

my psoriaris has seen tremendous improvement since the time I started using the home therapy system. I would say I have seen at least an 80% improvement - I have had no problem at all with the equipment and the user manual - I have had no skin burns or rashes - I think the product is great as it is and does not need any significant improvement.

My psoriasis problem still persists although it has improved somewhat. I think that my dosage is too low especially for my persistent and long standing plaques. On the iother hand I do not want to get burnt. I am dosing 6 minutes on my back and 4 minutes on the front. The secret is continuous use and gradual improvement over a few months.

Just wanted to give you an update. My psoriasis is almost completely cleared (I’m the only one that can see it really). I’m so excited. It’s been 2 ½ years since I last saw my skin looking so good. Such a relief and a boost to my self confidence. Up until 3 weeks ago I thought I’d be wearing long sleeves and pants all summer long – not anymore! So as you’ve probably already predicted I’d like to know my options for buying the machine I have or purchasing a new or used one?

I am doing well and the treatments are working. I have had Vitiligo for about twenty years. It has always responded well to phototherapy treatments, but then returned when the treatments stopped. With my home unit, I believe it is reasonably to expect complete re-pigmentation (which I have attained before). After that, I am hoping to use my SolRx System for maintenance purposes. I am completely satisfied with my unit. My insurance company gave me a quick pre-authorization. This was based upon a letter from my physician indicating the likelihood of my needing treatments for some time to come. In my own letter, I pointed out the cost savings to them. It is far less expensive to make this one-time purchase than to pay for on-going clinic treatments.

We had no problems setting up the unit and the usage instructions were very clear. I was beginning to see some improvement after about a months usage. It is typical for me to respond fairly slowly as I have had a VERY long history with UVB therapy(approx 30 years off and on). I was on a three week vacation and am now back at square one in terms of my condition. It is a godsend being able to have the unit at home. Although I currently reside in an area where a therapy unit in a hospital setting is not available, I am a former resident of Toronto and used to lose four to six hours in transit to and from therapy every week, not to mention the time spent lounging in the waiting room if things had fallen behind. This is a much more cost effective solution even with the large out of pocket outlay. I would highly recommend this as a solution to anyone with a history of this being the only effective method of treatment over a long perriod of time. Thank you for providing the product. The only suggestion that I would make, and it may of course run contrary to your business plan and profit margin, but offering used and reconditioned units could make this a viable solution to those who might not be able to afford a new unit without medical coverage.

I just wanted to thank you for all your help with the UVB panel. It's only been 3 weeks since I have began using it and I am already seeing a significant difference. I no longer have to feel embarassed about my skin and wear long sleeved shirts in this sweltering heat. This machine is really a blessing for patients like me who cannot try any sort of other treatment because they are trying to conceive. However, despite that, I personaly believe that light treatment is the safest, most effective and most convenient treatment for psoriasis, regardless of the patient profile. Actually, I am using the phototherapy unit to treat my patients here on Guam. I am using it for psoriasis, vitiligo, severe eczema. It is working great, and has made a tremendous difference to the lives of quite a few people. There have been no side effects except for mild redness, ever. Only one person failed to improve significantly with the treatment (psoriasis person). It has been most rewarding to treat these folks, particularly the children, with no side effect and such great results. I am very happy with your unit. I had originally wished for a full box, but the folks come in do one side, turn around and do the other, and out they go. The extra few minutes does not make a difference in my practice.

I ordered the system to help me with Vitamin D absorption issues following gastric bypass surgery. I have actually been thinking about your company a lot. I have had a miraculous recovery from bones microfracturing. My family doctor went on this journey with me. He was my sounding board as we tried to figure out the right amount of exposure. In the initial phase, we increased exposure time in 10 second increments and eventually reached 4 minutes or so on the front and then 4 more on the back. Total exposure. I have to tell you that I was not very well initially and did not keep accurate daily records. I had used a walker 24/7 starting in December 2003. I walked without the walker June 2004. I had been to many specialists, who had left me with no hope. The news for me and my family was so big. I know there must be other gastric bypass patients that might be dealing with this issue. Unfortunately, they are probably disabled and behind closed doors in their homes, unable to live a "walking" life. The only thing I changed was the lights. The lights were the healing.

There are no problems with the equipment or manual that I am aware of ... everything appears to be in order and functioning properly and my psoriasis is being managed very gradually as I am keeping exposure to a minimum. After regular treatments of 5 times per week, I am still only at 1 and a half minutes per side (front and back with face turned away for remaining two sides).

I can't even begin to express to you how this device has changed my life. Within a few days of treatment I saw a difference. Now, most of my spots have been reduced to just dry or pink patches with little to no flaking. I can wear short sleeved shirts without a second thought for the 1st time in nearly 10 years. My psoriasis had been getting progressively worse (new patches and the old one's were always growing), but with the UVBNB, many are completely gone with no sign of them returning and others, close to my feet are a bit resistant. Overall, I feel I have my life back, like the sentence of home confinement has been lifted. I feel liberated! Now I pretty much just do maintenance treatments maybe once a week. My insurance company is United Health Care; and after much ado, and many calls, they finally paid 90% of the cost. Phenominal! I was very lucky and very persistant. So, I guess you could say I'm SUPER happy with your product. If I believed in miracles I would have to say this is one. I wish this was the only line of treatment given to psoradics, I mean for 10 years I've used steriods that did nothing but aggravate the situation, and within days...DAYS!!! I have had a few spots of psoriasis this winter and have found the system very useful for expediting the process of clearing them up. I have found that by using the system less frequently, I require smaller time intervals of treatment to clear up any new spots.

It is the most effective treatment I have used yet (15+ years) for my mild case that normally affects about 2-5% of my skin. Surprisingly, the NUVB seems to be more effective that suntanning for me. I'm now using it two times per week in maintenance mode, along with some occasional steroid cream, and remain almost completely clear. I think it is a great product and the web and e-mail support has been great. I noted that in the latest budget there is a provision for phototherapy devices to be claimed as a deduction. The equipment is a little expensive, but I realize that it is a specialty item and not mass produced. I would have been willing to pay even $5K+ out-of-pocket for a long-term effective treatment such as this. Even a mild case of P has been a royal pain over the years dealing with the soreness and psychological impacts.

Your lightbox has been wonderful. I only just started using it on a regular basis religiously and have seen a wonderful start to an improvement. My elbows are looking great. It just looks like I have dry skin now, although the "stains" are still there. I am hoping they will go away soon. My legs are taking longer to see improvements, however I do see a difference. Keep in mind I have only been using it regularly for a month now. I believe in another month I should see a major difference. I have a spot on the back of my hand that isn't improving which is odd because prior visits to my Doctor's Light Box cleared it up within a week. The unit is wonderful so far. No problems yet. My Husband also built a beautiful Oak box for it with doors on it. So. So far so good. But lots of treatments still ahead for me. I am almost completely cleared. I only have maybe two or three little pea sized lesions. I have had absolutely no problems with the light box. It has truly made a world of difference. I don't have to worry about the stresses of going to the Dermatologist for treatment. I can do them in the comfort of my own home. Unfortunately government insurance does not cover the purchases of light boxes, at least not mine. Treatment is available at the hospital where I do my follow ups and because of that my doctor specifically said that the government will not pay for it. It states that on the prescription. I have been quite successful with the lights. Within a month I saw dramatic results, quite amazing actually! There is some stubborn spots that are staying around on my lower legs and one knee but I am not complaining. I found the lights super easy to use, sure is nice to have a home unit that I can use at my convenience. I would take a bath, put on sun screen on my face, ears, neck, chest and breast and then start the lights. I am doing it about two or three times a week still so that new won't come back, actually I did get a new spot so figured I should keep up with the lights. I put moisterizer on after every bath, still use some topical on those stubborn spots. Also had hyperpigmentation that is slowly fading, that takes a good three months or more. My skin is super smooth quite incredible actually. I had never done light therapy because of where I lived so was taking a bit of a chance with just going ahead and buying it and thank goodness it worked for me. I am thrilled to know that I have these lights to use for the rest of my life. My insurance company is Manulife. I talked to someone directly and found out exactly what they would require, I mailed out the forms to them on a Monday and by the following Thursday the entire amount was deposited into my account! I was blown away I must say. I really didn't rely on getting anything back because you hear of so many problems so needless to say I am quite thankful for my work's insurance company. Your help on the phone was fabulous, so very, very helpful. I also got so much information from the NPF website. They have a place where people can ask questions, get support, etc so that was quite helpful. Your product is mentioned quite often when light therapy is talked about. Great hearing from you

Thank you for your follow-up. I am very happy with the Solarc-System Home Phototherapy System. My elbows take to it well and are clearing up, the rest of my body is taking longer, however that is due to the fact that I have been away and not used the system the way I should. I plan to get on a regular set schedule in the next week or so now that I am back home. I would say a better, more accurate update would be beneficial in about six weeks. Where I will have more info to tell you and your company regarding any progress. The User Manual was a breeze and easy to navigate. Setup took only fifteen minutes and my Husband built a wonderful dark-walnut Pine cabinet for the until so it looks like a piece of furniture. (which he is proud to say he built!) The treatments worked as I hoped and dreamed they would. Three months of every-other-day treatments, increasing by 10 seconds per treatment up to 3 minutes and then holding at that.... and the psoriasis was 98% gone.....and remained that way for about 4 months. (I'm outdoors a lot in the summer). Restarted treatments October 1, and already the psoriasis has stopped progressing. At present am treating fronts of shins, elbows, and palms and backs of my hands. I hope for cure, plan on repeated remissions. I no longer have to plan my life around painful, cracked and bleeding hands. Thank you. The machine is, so far, working to perfection. Jim's skin condition has improved dramatically since starting his treatments. It is hard to know whether it is a combination of the treatments along with the natural sunlight but his skin is now about 90% improved over when he started his treatments. I believe the real test of the equipment will be in the winter months when Jim isn't exposed to as much natural sunlight. Everything is fine with the operation of the system. The only challenge will be for him to get enough treatments in the winter months while he is working away from home and the system is not portable. I didn't submit a claim to our insurance company as they indicated they would not cover the cost of the equipment. The great news was the skin condition improved very quickly, within 2 weeks there was a noticable difference, within 4 weeks he was 90% improved. Thanks for checking in.

I am very happy with the equipment and manual as is. I started treatments on receipt of the equipment and continued for two months until going on vacation and have since been taking natural light, thanks to our great summer. I see in your manual you suggest 1 min.10 sec. to start for psoriasis, however, since I had treatments previously at Brampton Hospital and burned at 10 sec. initially, I started at 10 sec. with this equipment and eventually reached 4 min. front, 4 min. back and 2 min. each side. It certainly did improve my over-all condition significantly, but my ankles (which are a problem area) did not quite clear. My dermatologist suggested starting treatments again as soon as I see any outbreaks, so I imagine I will be starting again in about a month's time. It is a real blessing having this equipment at home and so handy, instead of having to travel 2-1/2 hours to Brampton three days per week and usually during the winter. Unfortunately, we do not have insurance coverage, but will claim it as Medical Expenses when filing our Income Tax Returns. My treatments worked well. I had a flare up prior to receiving my machine and it took 6 to 8 weeks to clear (same lapse of time as at the hospital). My skin condition has improved significantly and my quality of life has improved. Since I have my Solarc/SolRx Phototherapy System, I have control on what works for me. (eg: it it rains for a week and I notice that my psoriasis starts to appear or feel it, I will use my machine when I cannot be exposed to the sun. By doing this, it prevents my spots to worsen or new spots(I don't have too many). I will find out during the Winter months how it will really work for me. There is no problem with the equipment nor the user's manual. I was surprised on how it is easy to set up and use. It is no more complicated than plugging a microwave or set a timer. There is even a safety feature (key). The service is great. I made the request for payment for the equipment to Medavie Blue Cross in the past (a few years back) and it has been denied. I prepared a file for the Benefit Review Committee (Blue Cross) and to my surprise they paid 80% of the costs. Your website was very helpful. I prepared a lenghty letter (file) using your examples. It is true that I started treatments in January 2004 and I was still going to the hospital (288 KM round trip) in March of 2005. I also printed photos from the internet showing the insurance company to what level I was when I started my treatments. My dermatologist and technicien were very suprised they paid because this company has been the only one they knew who were not assisting. Hoping this is helpful.

i am extremely happy with the results. my skin is pretty much clear except a few small areas that i am tackling. as a result i have been able to confidently enjoy this wonderfully hot summer we have had. i am now on more of a maintanence shedule 2 - 3 times a week for a few minutes. the system is easy peasy, no problems and very convenient to have in my home. sunlife is my insurance. they rejected the first go around. i have not had a chance to reapply. stephen, thanks very much for dealing with my questions back in april, as you know it is a big purchase. the fact that it works is a great comfort, making it all worthwhile. i don't take clear skin for granted anymore. thanx and sincerely

Hi Steve. I've been using my phototherapy machine since January and am really pleased with it. My skin was almost completely cleared up by the start of April. I can hardly wait to wear skirts and short sleeve tops this summer. Last summer was spent wearing pants and long sleeve blouses, not very comfortable on hot August days. I can honestly say, with the improvement in my skin I'm back to my happy self again. The psoriasis really got my spirits down when nothing I was trying (before my light machine) made any improvement in my condition. My dermatologist was quite impressed. There have been no problems with the machine or the manual.

Of course to no surprise to you this machine has been awesome. I received my machine in December and by February I am 95% clear, I have cut back on my treatments considerably and only do a minimal treatment to keep any new flare ups under control. I had great success with your unit and am thoroughly grateful. After 6 weeks with 18 treatments my psoriasis was completely gone. I was covered over my whole body. I am now doing a treatment once a week under advice of my dermatologist. I've had 34 treatments to date. I waited till I was cleared up before requesting reimbursement from my Insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield. I felt that by waiting with proven results it would increase my chances. I wrote an full page letter explaining why I thought I should be reimbursed and my doctor also sent an excellent letter. They covered 90% of the cost.

I bought the 1740 narrowband UVB machine and have been using it in conjunction with Protopic. My main vitiligo affected areas consisted of the abdomen, armpits, neck, legs and elbows. I found that the solarc unit and protopic combined have been extremely effective in repigmenting almost all areas. The improvement in the armpits and elbows is much slower than the other areas. I saw the first few dots of colour appear just after two weeks of using the machine. After about 4 months of use, I was at about 50% repigmentation and after 6 months, I was at about 80-90% in all areas except the armpits and elbows which remained at about 50%. Obviously, the solarc unit has proven to be extremely effective on me and I would highly recommend it to anyone. However, I believe its effectiveness depends on which areas of your body are affected by vitiligo and how long you've had it..etc. For example, I believe that hands and feet are much harder to repigment. Thanks for your help and for creating a great machine.

Thanks for the note, and thanks again for your help in making the purchase. No problems with the equipment or the manual. The machine has been a cinch to install, and has worked flawlessly since day one. The treatment has been going well. I was already doing UV treatments at the Dermatology Centre, so the toughest part has been trying to judge the dosage to maintain the same level as the circular booth that I was used to. For the first month or so, I was just doing my front and back, 2 to 3 times a week. I noticed that my sides were worsening, so I switched to all four sides, but not as long on the sides. I usually go 2 or 3 treatments at a certain time, and then increase by 10 seconds once the skin is used to it. Of course, one of the greatest benefits is the time saved not having to travel out of my way 2-3 times a week to go to the derm centre. This, to me, is invaluable.

Steve, Yes, the lamp is helping very much. I was on methotrexate for years and had to get off. I am quite satisfied with the results and I am sure that with time it will prove invaluable. The insurance coverage I have is with Manulife Ins. and they were very good with coverage (100%), but it took a better covering letter from Dr. Robert Jackson. The one improvement I think would be beneficial is better eye goggles. I've had to repair them a couple of times, the strap isn't that durable. I am more than satisfied with the results.

My "Sun Machine" (as I call it) has cleared up my psoriasis like magic. My hands have been unsightly for twenty years...after six weeks with Solarc, the white patches are almost completely invisible....my nails seem to be improving too. I am very pleased with the results of having my own UVB unit in the comfort of my own home. Since the only place on my body I did not have psoriasis was the palms of my handa, soles of my feet and my face I am very impressed with the results. Although I do have a couple of trouble spots yet my dermatoligist believes that within 6 months to a year I will have no noticable areas. My time is presently 3 minutes and have been there for about a month. My dermatoligist says that if am exposed to a lot of sunlight on my affected areas I should miss the treatment because of possible overexposure. It has made my life so much easier than driving 40 minutes one way to the hospital, getting undressed for treatment, dressing , driving home, undressing, applying oitments, dressing for work and then missing 1 hour of work 3 to 5 times a week. I do not have any insurance coverage but will use the cost as a tax deduction for medical expenses. Over time the lost wages alone not even considering the wear and tear on my vehicle let alone myself will pay for the unit.

I couldn’t be happier with the results I’ve had with the light machine. I fastened it to the wall in the bedroom and started treatments the day it arrived and have had no problems with the machine. Other than the treatments taking twice as long as in the doctor’s office because they have a machine that surrounds your whole body the results are the same. As in the doctor’s office I started seeing a big improvement after about fifteen treatments and by the time I completed thirty treatments my skin had pretty much cleared up. I discontinued the treatments after the thirty and about three weeks later the psoriasis started coming back so I resumed treatments and within two weeks it had pretty much cleared up again. What a pleasure it is to have the light machine right in my own home, no more having to get pre approval from the insurance company for treatments and best of all as soon as the psoriasis starts coming back I can resume treatments immediately and keep it under control. After a couple letters to my insurance company from my doctor, they felt it was medically necessary and reimbursed me 80%.

I am 23 and have had psoriasis for 12 years. Over the past 5 years it has become very severe and I had started wearing long clothing to conceal it. I had done UVB treatments at the hospital for about 7 weeks and then I was discharged because my skin had cleared. These treatments were time consuming and the scheduling was difficult. Over the next 2-3 years my psoriasis worsened to the worst it had ever been. I had psoriasis everywhere-from head to toe. Approximately one third of my skin was affected. I was very excited when I found out that it was possible to obtain a home lamp for treating my psoriasis. First, I had to get a doctor on my side. I was able to find a doctor that would help me with Solarc's assistance. When I spoke to my doctor, he was excited to prescribe a home unit to see the results for himself. I have now been using my SOLARC 1760 UVB-NB lamp for 16 weeks. It takes me about 6 minutes a day and the results have been fantastic. After just 4 weeks of treatment, my first spot had vanished. After 6 weeks of daily treatments, about half of my spots were starting to show significant improvement. At the start of week 13 all of the spots were flattening and I knew it wouldn't be much longer. At week sixteen, all of the spots on my body are gone and I am going to be starting maintenance treatments to prevent a relapse. I also must include that Bruce is an excellent man to work with. His personal touch really helps when dealing with such a personal issue, like psoriasis. I would recommend the product to anyone that I thought it could help. The machine is great, and my skin has almost cleared. I am at 40 seconds front, 40 seconds back, then 22 seconds each side. At first I only treated my front and back in hopes that reflective UVB would treat my sides, but with shadows from my arms, etc. that was not the case. The front and back had almost completely cleared before I started assign sides at 2 sec. and increasing from there. Sides are almost all cleared now. Only trouble spots are below the knees - I have several tooney sized spots that are being stubborn (probably due to the light intensity decrease near the end of the tube). I will probably wait until my sides are clear, then start using a stool to treat my calf areas. The manual was great, seemed complete. I had already done some treatments at the local hospital about 3 years ago, so it was familiar to me. The only suggestion on the manual would be to elaborate a bit in the area of skew or side treatment - how to introduce it, e.g. timing, and how to start treatment for "stubborn" areas. e.g. in my case, how to start adding time to lower legs (wear shorts, etc. and use stool - introduction times, increase times, etc.) All in all, I am 110% satisfied and am glad to be finally almost psoriasis free! My doctor will probably have a heart attack when he sees me next! Thanks again, and if you have any other questions, or want more info on my experience, please let me know.

The treatments have been very successful. For the first time in 24 years, I am not suffering through the winter. I saw my dermatologist, and requested a prescription for a topical ointment so that I can use both the light therapy and the ointment together in the treatment of my eczema. I use different strengths of sunblock lotion for areas that require little or no exposure to the UVB. I have learned how to regulate the time spent before the lights; i.e., sometimes I just need to maintain healthy skin, at others I need to increase exposure due to flare-ups. And if I should go awhile without light treatment, I need to start the routine all over again; i.e., begin with a short period of exposure time, and gradually build it up again. My doctor was very pleased with the results, as well as with my personal plan for treatment. As an added bonus, I find that the lights are keeping me acne-free. (Even at xx years old, I tend to break out once in a while ... when the time comes, I will probably be the only senior citizen requesting a wrinkle cream with acne control!) I do find, however, that my skin dries quite easily as a result of the lights and cold weather. Unfortunately, the lights cannot replace wintertime's lack of humidity! Therefore, I maintain a regular moisturizing routine, including Doak Oil baths, which help. This was an expensive investment for us. However, finally enjoying eczema-free skin makes it worthwhile. I am very pleased with the results, and only regret that I did learn of phototherapy sooner. Thank you for your interest.

Thanks for the follow up, I am extremely pleased with the unit for several reasons: 1. Ease of Use, the unit was extremely well shipped and very user friendly to set up. The controls are very simple and easy to manage. 2. Home Control, although I coordinate my treatment with my Dermatologist the unit is not bound by some arbitrary control that limits my treatments without updating or getting a code from the Dermatologist (this was a key deciding factor in my purchase) 3. The ability to plug into a standard 120 outlet. The system works just fine and I have not experienced any problems with powering the unit using a normal household plug (this was also a key deciding factor in my purchase) 4. Cost. Hands down the unit looks as solid and reliable and even more so than some of the other units that were a lot more expensive. The Treatment: I have always responded extremely well to PUVA, my psoriasis condition is severe and extremely chronic. PUVA, however would clear my skin 100% in a matter of weeks. The UVB NB is not as successful as PUVA, but it is a dramatic improvement over any other treatment. At least 75% clear, I must continually use the instrument but the trade off of convenience and ease of use is worth changing from PUVA to UVB-NB. Especially in my case as I live outside a major area and do not have ready access to a Dermatologist who specializes in Psoriasis Light Therapy. I experience minor side effects like extreme itching and my skin turns a patchy lobster red, but again, It is a minor inconvenience compared to any other available treatment. I am still experimenting with treatment methodologies to discover what will work best for me. Suggestions: God bless you man! Seriously takes a psoriasis survivor to offer a quality product to others, I really appreciate your entrepreneurship and would certainly be willing to recommend you to anyone who was researching their purchase. Purchase of the Solarc UVB NB machine has allowed me to lead a normal life, far from a metro area or Psoriasis Treatment Facility. I coordinate with my dermatologist regularly for check-ups and skin exams but all-in-all, I gain one entire work day (8 hours) a week in commute time by not having to drive to a treatment facility. For about 6-7 years I have had no control over this condition [psoriasis - ed], and expecially dreaded Autumn when it really flared off every year. As soon as I started the narrow band treatments with Solarc, I immediately began to see results. I mean as soon as I got thru the first week of the cautious ramp up in time. By week 2 I noticed a lot of reduction of itching, and could see the promise of this treatment method. I have only noticed even the slightest overexposure one time. It was odd because it was not a great increase in time. I think I had waited more days between treatments, and had soaked in the tub and used some soap or something that sensitized me. Other than that, it seems like the UVB narrow band is more forgiving and less prone to burn [than UVB Broadband - ed]. I am taking about 2min 50 sec. per side, mostly on my legs. I then cover up, and add another 50 sec. on the lower part of my legs. I do this about 1 time a week now. I still have resistant patches on my lower legs, but can live with it and probably should ramp up a little to see if I can clear it up. I am just trying to minimize my exposure while achieving some control. I tried for years to use Ultravate, and other topicals on large areas of lesions, and it was hugely time consuming. Your machine is amazing. I saw a dermatologist in NC for 2-3 years and took light treatments in his office 2 times a week at great cost, and never, I mean never saw the results I am getting with Solarc. Thinking back, I don't know how I took so much time in his light booth without getting results. I did get approval from my insurance. Of course I paid my deductible, but this is the best investment I have ever made as far as my psoriasis goes. Thanks so much to you and Solarc. It is amazing to me how many people must be struggling with this condition, and they could be helped by home treatment. There is nothing out there that even approaches the relief this home treatement offers. I had to try something. The improvement in quality of life is huge! For 7 years I was miserable. It's not gone but I can live with it now.

The Solarc machine has been wonderful; my skin has improved noticeably (both my husband and my dermatologist, the two most important people in my life, confirm this and I see/feel it too). When I'm on the machine regularly (not always possible because we travel etc.), I don't have to take as high a dosage of the medication I'm on, and there's even some hope of getting off the medication entirely -- though I'll believe that when it happens. The Solarc machine is far more effective than the sun, which gets me more tanned but clears the lesions less effectively at this point. I have given all your brochures to my dermatologist and he in turn has given copies of them to patients. He had me come and talk to one of his patients personally about the machine, because this person lived in Pennsylvania and had a hard time getting to the office for light treatments. Possibly he has already become a client of yours?

The light is working perfectly. My psoriasis has responded as expected with the lesions reduced by over 50%. I didn't try to get the insurance company to buy it. I used my Flexible Medical Spending Account to get it with before-tax income. I expose myself in 4 positions, front, left sided, back and right side at 1-1/2 minutes each. I am very happy with the product. The quality is excellent, the components are conservatively sized, and the price is reasonable. It was not damaged in shipping which is a major issue with me because I have no patience dealing with that kind of problem. I certainly will recommend your product without reservation.

I have been very pleased with your equipment. We have seen some fading of the [CTCL] spots and hope they will continue to fade. My next follow up with the oncologist is in October. This time last year, my husband and I were leaving the dermatologist's office feeling very frustrated and scared. He had only been off the Methotrextate drug for about six weeks and his psorasis had come back full force, perhaps worse then ever. My name is Karl and I have been using a Solarc Systems UV light box for the past ten years. I am currently 27, and have had psoriasis since as long as I can remember. I have used just about every cream or lotion that you can imagine. Finally my Dermatologist suggested I start taking UV treatment. I was going to his office five times a week, traveling from Elmvale to Barrie every morning. I found that it was just too much time and expense so my Doctor suggested buying my own box. I purchased the Solarc around mid November last year. After about two months of following the prescribed times, I started noticing the difference in my arms especially. My legs were not as quick to react to the light dosages. I have now been using the Solarc for three and a half months and my arms are 95% free of scales and my legs are about 50% free of scales. I am using the lamp at 2 ½ minutes front and back and I have been using a one foot high step to elevate my legs closer to the centre of the bulbs for about two weeks now . Three weeks have now passed since I received my SolRx model 1760UVB-NB phototherapy unit, so I thought it an appropriate time to comment on my experience. First, I will tell you about the results that I have had in relieving wide-spread chronic psoriasis that had "plagued" me for the past 40 years. Then I will comment on the order and delivery process from Solarc Systems. In just three weeks of treatment my psoriasis plaques have been reduced in thickness and area by more than 50%. The phototherapy treatment process takes place in my own home and lasts only a few minutes every morning. I am amazed. For forty years I have endured greasy cortisone ointments and tars that stained my clothing, methotrexate that gave me ulcers and oral canker sores, and endless inconvenient visits to a hospital phototherapy clinic that required more than two hours away from work everyday, only to be told after 80% clearing that I was discharged and could not continue on a less frequent maintenance program - a lengthy cycle back through the doctors and enduring waiting lists was required to re-qualify for treatment again. At last am in control of my disease treatment and I feel immensely better. Now to the order and delivery process. I first learned about Solarc Systems from a brief advertisement in MacLean's magazine a couple of months ago. It is surprising how people with psoriasis will notice even the smallest reference to the disease. Anyway, I went to the referenced web site to learn about the company and its products. I was very surprised and pleased to learn that this was a Canadian designed and manufactured unit. The web site provided a wealth of information about the merits of phototherapy and explained very clearly how I could explain about the product to my dermatologist and, best of all, how I could "encourage" my group insurance carrier to cover the cost of the equipment. After my explorations were complete I phoned the company and spoke to the owner, Bruce Elliott, and received further explanation about the products. Thanks to Bruce's help I was able to obtain a prescription from my dermatologist for the equipment and a pre-approval from Manulife. My doctor was very interested to learn that there was a Canadian company that manufactured this type of equipment at a very reasonable price. The prescription was faxed to Solarc Systems and the equipment was shipped by courier within a week. This is where Solarc Systems customer service excelled. The courier delivered the equipment a day earlier than scheduled and, as luck would have it, no one was at home. I phoned Bruce and he arranged for a re-delivery; but luck was again not on my side, the courier accidentally shipped the product back to Solarc Systems. When Bruce learned what had happened he offered to drive the unit personally all the way from the factory in Barrie to Ottawa - unbelievable service. Bruce Elliott and his company, Solarc Systems, have taken the standard for customer service to new heights. When the equipment arrived I found the documentation to be excellent and the installation only took 20 minutes. The phototherapy unit is very easy to use and the equipment quality is superb. We believe that the success achieved by these patients is owing to their following of the SolRx User's Manual and its exposure guidelines. During the clearing phase, the patient must diligently take their treatments, increasing treatment times slowly to avoid erythema; a process greatly simplified by UVB-Narrowband. Once clearing is achieved, treatment times and frequency can usually be significantly reduced, as the patient finds a balance between UVB dosing and their skin's condition, with the goal being to minimize total lifetime cumulative UVB exposure. Fortunately, once a patient knows that their skin condition can be easily controlled, and since the treatment sessions are inherently boring, there is less tendency to over-treat. It is possible that these devices are only replacing the environmental UVB that our ancestors would have received naturally.
